Insidious Chapter 3 is an American horror film. It is a prequel to the other two films of the Insidious series. It is directed by the debutante director Leigh Whannell. The film stars Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott along with Angus Sampson, Whannell and Lin Shaye retain their roles from the previous films of this series. The movie was confirmed on 15th September, 2013. It was later announced that this would not be based on the Lambert family as it was a prequel. The announcement stated that the movie would focus completely on another family. On 7th May 2014, it was announced that it would be Whannell's directorial debut.

This is one of those upcoming movies that is showing a lot of promise. It is a prequel to the other films based on the Lambert family. Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) uses her spiritual ability to contact the dead though she was earlier very firm about not using it. She uses them in order to help a teenage girl Quinn Brenner (Stefanie Scott) to contact her mother who recently passed away, Lillith (Ele Keats). Quinn believes that Lillith had been trying to contact her through the spirit world so she goes to Elise for help. Elise is unable to complete the reading as she is threatened by a demon who even tries to kill her. Soon after this Quinn begins to feel a presence. She hears noises, voices, footsteps and even sees a dark figure waving at her and then disappearing from time to time. This figure distracts her while she is crossing the road in one scene causing her to meet with an accident. It leaves her with two broken legs and a wheelchair.

Eventually this demon is seen more and more often and becomes more vicious trying to hurt the family. Quinn's father, Sean (Dermot Mulroney) saves her time and again from the evil demon. Sean then contacts Elise who instantly agrees to go back to the spiritual realm also called "The Further" where she almost gets killed and then returns to the normal world refusing to go there again. Eventually she comes back to help feeling stronger and more confident. This time she beats the demon. Insidious Chapter 3 has a gripping story that is sure to keep audiences entertained.
